Licensing Policy

1. Publication License
Articles published under the current licensing policy of Journal Of Nursing Practice (JNP) are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).
This license governs reuse of the licensed article. Copyright ownership and the publishing rights granted to JNP are described separately in the Copyright Policy.

2. Permitted Uses and Conditions
Users may share and adapt licensed material subject to these conditions:

  • Attribution: Credit the creators and other designated attribution parties, link to the license, and identify changes. Do not imply endorsement.
  • NonCommercial: Reuse under this license must be for non-commercial purposes.
  • ShareAlike: Adaptations must use the same license or a compatible license permitted by its terms.
  • No additional restrictions: Do not impose legal or technological barriers to uses the license permits.

Users should provide the article citation and DOI or URL and retain applicable copyright and license notices. These permissions cannot be revoked while the license conditions are met. Applicable legal exceptions remain unaffected. Privacy, publicity, moral rights, or other rights may require separate permission.

3. Third-Party Materials
Third-party material is included under the article’s license only where the relevant rights and permissions allow this. Authors must clearly identify excluded material in a credit line and state the applicable rights or permission conditions. Users must obtain any additional permission required from the relevant rights holder unless their use is otherwise permitted by law.

4. Additional Permissions
Commercial uses and other activities outside the license require permission from the relevant rights holder unless otherwise permitted by law. JNP may assist users in contacting the rights holder but cannot grant permissions on another party’s behalf without authorization.

5. Display of Licensing Information
Each article webpage and full-text PDF must display the applicable license consistently and provide a working link to its official terms. For articles published under the current license, use: “This article is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).”The license name must link to: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/

6. Previously Published Articles
Previously published articles remain subject to the licenses applicable when they were published. This policy does not retrospectively replace earlier licenses or revoke permissions already granted. A change in copyright ownership does not, by itself, change an article’s license. Users should consult the statement accompanying the individual article.
